One week later, Isagenix 9 day cleanse

Well it's been a week and so far I haven't gained any weight. I haven't lost any weight either, but I'm happy with that. I do know that I'm retaining water at the moment so it'll be interesting to see how it goes.

I have become more conscious of what I'm eating. I was at a business meeting and they had the most wonderful looking brownies. I succumbed and had one, but was in my own little world while I was eating it. A few hours later there were still some left and I had another one.

I did make sure that I had a very light dinner that evening and I was extra careful the next couple of days.

So far, so good. One of the women at work here has started her 9 day cleanse and is about halfway through. Today was a weigh and measure day. She was down 5 lbs and is thrilled. It's the lightest she's been in a couple of years.

Cheers,

Sandy

My last day!!! Isagenix Day 9 of Cleanse

Today is my last day of cleansing. I'm proud to say that I've done it with minimal cheating and deviation.

I got through yesterday fine. I was concerned about the drive since the water had been going through me but I modified the cleanse schedule so that I didn't do my 3rd cleanse until I got home. Normally I'm a muncher when I'm on the road and I was surprised at how I didn't seem to miss that too much. I allowed myself one of the Snacks per 100 km of travel and that worked out well.

Today I put on a blouse that I received at Christmas that was too snug to wear comfortably. It fits fine now. It's very tailored and I have to say that it looks great.

I'm down 5.5 lbs which is only a half lb from when I did the first set of cleanse days but it feels like more. When I sit I only have one belly bump rather than the three layers that I had before. I'm starting to see my hip bones again as well.

I haven't looked at seeing whether there's any guidance for what to do after the cleanse on Isagenix. My plan is to follow South Beach Diet until I get to 138 pounds or until we go to the Caribbean. I'm looking forward to eating real food.

The benefits of the plan for me have been:

1. I didn't have to think or plan too much while following the program so it was easy.
2. I'm seeing inches lost which I hope will make me more dedicated to continuing.
3. I don't seem to be having the sweet craving that I usually do and I didn't cheat or really want to cheat.
4. I didn't realize until now, but for the last 11 days I haven't worried about what I was eating and what it was going to do to my figure. No guilt and only excitement. Wow!

I'm sure I would have seen the same thing if I had been trying to keep to a 1200 a day calorie diet, but I know that I wouldn't have had the discipline to do so if I allowed myself access to all the foods.

I didn't see the energy that everyone talks about, but I've been sick so it's not fair to say that it doesn't exist.

My cheats were I didn't exercise, I rarely used filtered water, occasionally I had a few more almonds or Snacks than I should have.

Tomorrow I'll post final statistics and then I'll track further progress.

Cheers,

Sandy

Day 8 - Isagenix 9 day cleanse - cleanse day

It's noon and I'm halfway into the 2nd to last day and 2nd to last cleanse day.

I've had three of the Snacks and two of the cleanses so far. I've just now cheated and had 10 almonds which doesn't seem like a lot but adds up to 100 calories so I'll look twice at those. For the calories I would rather have had one of my mini-mandarins.

It's hard today, not sure why, because I don't remember the first two cleanse days being so difficult. I think it's because I've only got a bit more than 24 hours to go and I just want it to be over. I haven't weighed myself in the last two days and my pants don't seem to be fitting any different so there's no extra incentive to make me to a happy dance.

The fluids are passing right through me and I'm concerned about the three hour drive that I'll be starting in a couple of hours. I'm impatient when driving such long distances (particularly this stretch of the road since it's fairly boring) so this will not be fun and I'm not looking forward to it.

I'm a bit whiny, eh?

Patience, patience, patience. I can do it, I can do it, I can do it.

Day 7 - Isagenix 9 day cleanse

Today was my last shake day! I couldn't bear the thought of having one this morning so I had a lemon bar instead.

I'm on a business trip and didn't want to have to explain my choice of shake at lunch so I had my meal at lunch today. Three mini Babybel swiss cheese flavour portions (wonderful and 60 calories each), some fresh vegetables, and some Mandarins Sugar Rock which are wee little mandarin oranges that look like they are past their prime but are super sweet and delicious. They're grown in China and some have concerns about that but their taste is worth the risk to me.

Tonight a shake with the orange Want More Energy flavouring. Either the shake flavour is growing on me or the orange is good enough or I was so thrilled about not having to have another, but the last shake was fine.

I don't have a scale here so I don't know how it went today. Last night I stopped at my sister's for dinner before coming to my client's place. Instead of going out I went to the grocery store and picked up friendly meal items. Pre-cooked chicken strips which were a bit of a cheat since they were seasoned and glazed. Some multigrain salad which tasted divine, a half of a potato and fresh vegetables.

I almost became a fully annoying convert yesterday - I finally had the energy that everyone's been talking about and felt better than I remember feeling in months. I blew it though by not getting to the hotel until 10:00 p.m., and then waking up every few hours with either coughing or room temperature issues. I was exhausted today and not able to focus as well as I would have liked.

Two more cleanse days and then we'll see where it goes. Yesterday I wore a sweater that had several women talking at work - it's generally a slimming sweater on me at any weight but I do have to admit that it felt good to have it on yesterday. The women seemed to think that there's been a big change.

I'm getting so very tired of the cold. I'm down to the tail end where I cough because of a tickle, but the coughing is very annoying, particularly when it wakes me up in the middle of the night.

So far it's worked out well. I'm impressed with my dedication to the plan. I've also noticed that I haven't really had any sugar cravings, but the Snacks have got fructose in them and so do the shakes so maybe I'm getting it in different ways. But it didn't bother me to walk by the candy aisle in the grocery store last night. I do want crackers though and that's not normal for me.

Tomorrow night will be the test - I've got a three hour drive that I'm not looking forward to. I'll be tired because of a long day at work.

No regrets - I'm happier with the plan than I thought I would be.

Cheers,

Sandy

Day 6 Isagenix 9 day cleanse

Today is Day 6. It's another shake day.

I'm up 0.5 lbs which means that I've lost 3.5 lbs so far instead of the 5 that I had after my second cleanse day. But I remembered Patti saying that even when she wasn't losing weight she was losing inches so I took my measurements and I'm down 2.5 inches from 3 days ago so a total of about 7.5 inches. I doubt that the 1/2 inch that's come from my knees is noticeable, but I'm happy with the additional inches from my waste and belly.

I'm starting a business trip for a couple of days this evening so that will be interesting. Fortunately it's casual and I should be fine. I think I'll move my meal to lunch and have my shake in the evening tomorrow. Tonight I'm going out to dinner with my sister but we'll go somewhere simple and I'll have a salad. Wednesday is the second to last cleanse day and I'll be driving that day for 3 hours. It's a boring stretch of road and normally I keep myself awake by popping peanut M&Ms. I'll see how I feel but I expect to be a bit cranky. I'm thinking I might extend it and make Wednesday a shake day. But I'm running out of shake and don't know if I have enough. I do have the lemon bars which I can use and maybe I'll do that.

I've decided that I miss food. I want an orange.

About 5 years ago I got hooked on South Beach Diet and lost 25 lbs with it. Phase 1 eliminates fruits and starches and that lasts two weeks. I saw similar results with that and was down 7 lbs the first two weeks. The interesting thing there is I very clearly remember craving oranges during the two weeks as well. I might only have 4 oranges a year (but orange juice every day) so the craving is surprising.

I spoke with Patti last night. She's doing the 9 day system the same schedule as I am. Her second day of cleanse she had so much energy she's now signed up for a half day marathon. I am only today feeling alert but it's been the three week cold that seems to be going around and I'm coming to the tail end of that.

I am very jealous of her energy. My life the last three weeks has been on the couch.

Patti has said that I can have food on the plan, but right now with my mind set I'm following it as closely as I can. I know that if I start introducing foods at this point it'll be too easy to allow more and more.

Still happy with the program - it's definitely easy to follow as long as you're in the right mindset.

Cheers,

Sandy

Isagenix 9 day cleanse - day 5

Hi,

Yesterday passed uneventfully - two shakes and chicken and edamame for dinner.

I don't think I cheated.

I'm still up a pound, but overall down 4.

Less hungry - the body seems to have gotten used to the limited calories.

Still don't like the shake flavours but they are better with almond extract.

Cheers,

Sandy

Isagenix 9 day cleanse - day 4

Hi,

Today is day 4 of the system. Yesterday was a shake day. Vanilla shake in the a.m. - still blechy but tolerable with some of the Want More Energy orange drink.

At noon I had one of the chocolate shakes - that was better, but still not great. I don't think I'll ever become a shake convert.

Snacked on some laughing cow cheese and almonds throughout the day, but in general wasn't very hungry.

For dinner I had a salad, some chicken, and some creole corn chowder soup which looked interesting at the store. It only had 90 calories per cup but 455 mg sodium.

I had two Snacks for dessert and the last bit of the Isagenix lemon bar.

My cheat was a bit of chicken skin - I think that was about it.

I may not have drank all the water that I was supposed to.

When I got up this morning I was up a half lb - I'm OK with that.

I made my vanilla shake this morning with almond extract and some frozen fruit - it was better that way.

I don't know if I mentioned it before, but I'm a little alarmed at the Want More Energy label - it says "not for people with low blood pressure". I tried asking the question at Isagenix and was told that I should consult my doctor. Since my blood pressure is typically low I'm not sure what this means. I've decided that I'll only have the product in my shakes and now and then. When I Google low blood pressure it looks like a person isn't diagnosed with low blood pressure unless they've got symptoms. I generally don't have symptoms so I think I'm OK.

I'm off to Rain Forest Cafe for lunch - I looked at the menu and think I can be good.

Overall no regrets on participating on the program - I'm almost halfway done.

Cheers,

Sandy

Back on shake days - day 3 or 5 of 9 day cleanse

Hi,

Today is the first day back on the shake days. I successfully completed two days of the cleanse days so now I'm on day 3 of the 9 day system. I have five shake days in a row now and then finish off with two days of the cleanse.

I did my weigh in this morning and I'm down 5 lbs! Inches lost are also five inches - one from bust, one from waist, one from hips and then various half and quarter inches here and there.

I now weigh what I weighed prior to my Dad coming to visit in October last year but I had only been that weight for a few months and had been a bit heavier than now for the last couple of years.

One of the interesting things is that I have set points on the 3s and 5s where I tend to hover on those weights (for example, 143 and 148) and it takes me a bit longer to get off of those weights than the other weights. This time I blew right by the 148 and am at 146 at the moment.

Turns out that cats really like the shake mix. I had portioned out the shakes for the next few days and had put them in a bag on the floor. One of my cats got right into the bag and was busy trying to get into the plastic when I caught her.

I've joined the plan with a woman at work - she'll be starting next week and Patti, our coach, told us we should buy one of each of the flavours of shakes. She ordered the chocolate ones so we're swapping those out. I'll be tasting the chocolate shake at noon today.

My cheating is that I've been having more almonds than it says to (though not too many), I'm not always using filtered water, and I'm not exercising. Yesterday I received the lemon bars and orange drink in the mail and I ate a quarter lemon bar throughout the day.

So overall I'm not cheating very much.

It's hard to say whether it's making me feel better - I think I might have sinusitis and had to go home yesterday early from work because I was so tired. All the water I'm drinking is good for the sinusitis though and I'm hoping it'll resolve without the need for medication.

Current impressions of the plan?

1. It's pretty easy as long as you're in the mind-set. I can see doing this in January each year.
2. I'm not so sure that I like the flavours of the products and that will be the challenge.
3. I'm happy with it so far.

Cheers,

Sandy

Day 2 of Cleanse Days

Yea!!! I woke up this morning and was down 3 pounds.

I'm sure it's all water, but that's OK. The bloating seems to be down, at least this morning.

On the negative side which is completely unrelated, one of my tonsils is now peeking out from its normal cubbyhole and is quite sore. It's probably good that today is a no-food day since it hurts to eat. I've had the cold for two weeks and husband is starting to pressure me to see a doctor.

Ravenous this morning but no real cravings. However, I am noticing the smell of baked goods more than I usually do. Someone toasted bread at work yesterday and I could hardly pay attention to the conversation.

I'll update more later.

Day 3 - First cleanse day

Today is Day 3 of the Plan, or Day 1 depending on what you consider the start date. It's the first day of no shakes (Yea!!).

It's noon and so far I've had four of the snacks and two of the drinks. I've also probably had a dozen almonds.

Not too bad - still headachey but that could be the cold. I do like the flavour of the cleanse product so that's fine.

I was ravenous around 9:00 but had a couple of snacks and seem to be OK for now.

I'll update more later.

It's now 6:30 in the evening. I have one more drink to go.

I'm matched with a 10 year old girl (in a program similar to Big Sisters) and we went out for dinner tonight. I was a bit concerned about how I was going to handle it but she wanted to go out to McDonalds. Turns out their side house salad only has 40 calories. I did fudge a bit because I had a bit of salad dressing (1/2 tsp) and a bit of one of her chicken nuggets.

It hasn't been too hard a day - I'm starting to bloat which I'm not happy about but other than that the hunger was manageable and the headache was tolerable. I'm prone to headaches so they have to be pretty bad before I get cranky.

The one thing is that my weight hasn't changed in two days. I wasn't expecting drastic decreases so soon, but I haven't even lost a pound. We'll see how that is tomorrow.

Now to go do my splits exercises.

Cheers,

Sandy

Blechy! - Pre-Cleanse Day 2 synopsis

Hi,

I've completed Day 2. This was my first day back at work and I wondered how it would go.

I'm proud to say that I easily turned down all offers of Christmas chocolate and goodies.

I had a shake for breakfast at work. I combined it with the orange Want More Energy that Patti had been kind enough to send me. I used a large water bottle to mix everything in and just spent a about a half minute shaking it.

I very much liked the flavour - it was like having an orange creamsicle. So I've ordered more of the orange Want More Energy.

Had my mid morning snack and had another shake for lunch. I didn't have any flavouring for the shake and that's where it turned blechy. I didn't like the flavour at all and it stuck with me for a couple of hours. I should have my orange drink soon so by the time I get to the next shake day I should be fine.

According to one of the pieces of literature the chalky taste is because I'm not processing proteins efficiently. I don't know whether I buy this or not, but who knows.

For dinner I had a whole wheat tortilla with some onion cream cheese, a half sweet potato and some soybeans.

No cheating today and I feel good. I only got hungry closer to supper and I'm not feeling deprived yet.

I did have a headache all day, apparently quite common.

It's going to be difficult to separate the effects of the cleansing from the effects of getting over my cold. I've been feeling a bit better each day but the cold was particularly harsh so improvements are really noticeable.

Tomorrow is cleanse day and officially day 1 of the process.

Cheers,

Sandy

Pre-Cleanse Day 1 synopsis

Hi All,

I've just completed Pre-Cleanse Day 1. I think this is going to be hard. I don't care for the shake - it's chalky and the flavour stays with me for hours. I tried changing the flavour a bit at lunch by adding some frozen mango. Not sure whether that's allowed and it didn't really help.

For dinner I had some sweet potato slices, some turkey, and some beans.

I've had a headache all day but not enough to be too bothersome.

I think I had about 10 more almonds than I was supposed to.

Day 1 completed successfully!

Sandy

Day 1, Isagenix 9 day cleanse pre cleanse day 1

Hi All,

I've decided to try the Isagenix 9 day cleanse system. My friend, Patti, who has been more voluptuously curvy than she would like over the last several years started on the Isagenix program in June last year. I don't get to see her often but when I did see her in the fall last year she looked amazing and there's no way you could say that she needed to lose weight. She's wrestled with her weight more than I have and has become almost born-again in her enthusiasm with the product line.

Just before Christmas she offered me a deal on the 9 day cleanse that was very reasonable. I wouldn't have tried the product line otherwise since we don't eat a lot of pre-processed food. There is also so much hype involving the product that I feel that it's somewhat along the lines of too good to be true.

But I felt that I needed to kickstart the 10 lbs that I want to lose and it seems like a relatively easy program to follow. Now that Christmas is over and I've got a relatively stable workload for the next few weeks this seems like a good time to try it.

I am a bit of a cynic on this one. The main reason I'm doing it is that it doesn't seem to involve a lot of thinking or planning and I want to lose the seasonal holiday weight I picked up before we go to the Caribbean.

If you'd like to know what I'm up to for the next 11 days - the plan is here.

My first thoughts is that the plan is a bit misleading. It says 9 day cleanse but there are two more days tacked on for pre-cleanse. I also suspect that it would be easy to achieve the same weight loss by eating the calorie loading that they're using and eating simply. But, often when I'm a cynic I'm proven wrong so I'm not completely closed minded about it.

Today is Day 1 for me. All I've done so far is take my measurements. They have you measure your neck, upper arms, body, and legs in three points. Lots of inches there at the moment - looking forward to dropping them.

I'll try to post more impressions at the end of the day. Now off to have one of the shakes that I'm supposed to have.

Cheers,

Sandy
